Care Instructions for Your Handmade Timber Cutting Board
Thank you for choosing a handmade timber cutting board! With a little care, your board will stay beautiful and functional for years to come.
Cleaning
Wipe after use: Clean with a damp cloth or wash by hand using mild dish soap and warm water.
Avoid soaking: Never submerge your board in water or put it in the dishwasher—excess moisture can cause warping or cracking.
Dry promptly: After washing, wipe dry with a clean towel and stand upright or lay flat to air dry fully.
Oiling
Oil regularly: Apply a food-safe mineral oil or cutting board conditioner every 2–4 weeks, or when the wood looks dry or feels rough.
How to apply: Use a clean cloth to rub oil into all surfaces. Let it soak in for a few hours (or overnight), then wipe off any excess.

Storage
Store upright or flat: Keep your board in a dry area away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Avoid damp areas: Prolonged exposure to moisture can lead to mold or warping.
Additional Tips
Disinfect naturally: To deodorize and sanitize, rub with coarse salt and half a lemon. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Avoid strong detergents or bleach, as these can damage the wood and remove natural oils.
Don’t cut raw meat on the same board used for ready-to-eat foods, unless properly cleaned in between uses..
